HOME GARDEN

Home Garden is a repackaging for seeds. The packaging is inspired from spice shakers. The product is designed to access the seeds with ease.

Problem
When one buys herb seeds, they are typically packages in a paper and plastic tear-to-open pouch that produces a lot of waste. This type of packaging also makes it difficult to access only a couple seeds at a time. When one wants to grow a herb plant, especially when urban farming typically in a high rise building, usually only a couple seeds are needed at once. With the current packaging in stores, all seeds are accessed at once and the user needs to store them by typically using a plastic bag to seal the rest away for later. The main problem to solve is to eliminate the waste produced from the original packaging method and to have the solution contain a second life. How can the package continue to be used once the product contained inside has been used?

Solution
The lid twists counter clockwise and the seeds can be shaken out to plant. The container is made out of recycled paper and thrives to promote urban farming and personal gardening. The seed containers are part of a kid that contains a Growing Guide as well as a note pad for keeping note about watering and growing the herbs.

The guide provides information for beginners on farming at home as well as important information about fertilization among other aspects. The kit also contains tools to aid in farming.

Second Life
This container thrives though its second life. Once the seed is planted, grown and then harvested, the seed container can be re-used to contain the harvested herb/spice. The container will add new life to the existing spice rack in the kitchen!
